Service Description

1. Why should an outboard motor Air and Fuel Injector be cleaned? Dirty Injectors can cause failure to the power-head that will cause damage to the motor and major expenses.

2. How often should an outboard motor Air and Fuel Injector be cleaned? To prevent damage to the outboard motor, Air and Fuel Injectors should be cleaned at least once a year.

Direct injectors are prone to carbon build up and are affected by the hostile environment in the combustion chamber as well as ethanol, hydrocarbons and additives which forms part of today's fuel.

Because there is no cleaning agent, such as gasoline, present to clean the valves from any debris the current drawback from direct injection systems in outboard motor engines is the buildup of carbon and dirt behind the intake valves and ports.

Symptoms fuel injectors need cleaning:

1. Poor starting when cold
2. Hard to start when hot
3. Poor Idle
4. Fuel smells
5. Engine not running smooth
6. Loss of power
7. Poor fuel consumption
8. Smoke coming from the engine
9. High engine temps
10. Engine going in limp mode
11. Lower speeds
12. Watercraft not getting up on plane

The above are symptoms of fuel injectors that might be gummed -up, dirty , clogged, rusty or those that might have electrical problems. Some of these problems can also be caused by a bad injector connectors or even a fuel pump.

Cleaning injectors by removing them from the engine and then proceed with a process of visual inspection, ultrasonic cleaning and actual flow testing for spray patterns and volume is the only accurate and reliable way to confirm that they are clean and doing their job the way they are intended to. Anything else is only guess work.
